Feb. 10, 2010 at 7:41am WWEE receives grantsWashington Women's Employment & Education received two foundation grants totaling $40,000 during January in support of its flagship program, Reaching Employability and Achieving Career Habits. The donations were made by an anonymous donor ($35,000) and The Fund for Women & Girls, a component fund of The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation ($5,000). REACH Plus is a five-week, 175-hour program that provides training in basic workplace skills, job placement, life skills instruction and supportive services. The Fund for Women & Girls has been a supporter of REACH Plus since 2001. The fund seeks to empower Pierce County women and girls through philanthropy. Last fiscal year, 97 percent of WWEE clients were women and the majority (75 percent) are single parent heads of household. The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation was established during 1981 and provides individuals, families and corporations with the resources and expertise to connect their own values with the philanthropic intent of their choosing.
