Graphic Art Design Positions: The Business Examiner is seeking a Graphic Design Intern (unpaid). Flexible work hours available. The duties would include, but not limited to designing ads, making ad changes, creating featured building page layouts, and assisting in production. Minimum Qualifications: • Must be proficient in the following application programs: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat • Possess good proofreading skills • Ability to convert photographs for printing • Have ability to see an ad from conception to print • Must be able to multitask • Needs to be a self starter, quick learner, able to prioritize own tasks and work with a variety of people • Ability to work with interruptions and tight deadlines • Ability to do routine tasks on a repeated basis • Have a good work ethic The ideal candidate would have a firm grasp on the responsibilities of a graphic designer. Because the Creative Department is the final step in the advertising process, we require the qualified candidate to have the ability to produce projects quickly. Compensation: We pay based on qualifications and experience. If arranged we provide in college credit and a stipend at the successful completion of the internship. We will cover expenses, mileage and supplies. We will arrange with the successful applicant about the length of the internship in advance. What we expect from you: • You'll be expected to put effort into reporting and writing about the South Sound business community and the economic climate with the market area. • You will be expected to keep appointments, meet deadlines, accept criticism, follow directions and be willing to learn all aspects of the field, from design to photography and reporting. What you can expect from us: • Feedback: We'll make every effort to give you as much feedback, guidance and advice as we can. An internship is a learning experience after all. That advice and experience of writing for a professional business publication are the most important things we can offer to help you learn about the journalism profession. • Experience: There is no substitute for experience, particularly in interviewing, reporting and writing techniques. • References: Hey, it can't hurt.
