Emily (Reiter) West Business Examiner associate publisher & general manager

Emily West began her career at the Business Examiner in 1999 as an advertising account manager, quickly taking on the role of marketing director later that year.  In 2004, she was made advertising director and associate publisher, and in 2008 was named general manager.  In that role she is responsible for leading a highly effective management team, developing new products and partnerships and overseeing BE marketing campaigns.

In 2006 Emily joined BE Publisher Jeff Rounce as co-host of the BE's television show, South Sound Business Report.  Archives of the show can be found here.

In early 2008 Emily launched a weekly auto review column called BE on the Road. She takes a fun and informative approach to updating readers on the newest trends and features of a variety of manufacturers' current year models.

The BE has undergone many exciting transformations under Emily's watch.  From re-branding and refreshing the BE image to an ever-expanding list of products and services that include Web, contract publishing, television and the introduction of four Leadership Recognition programs.  With many new opportunities to share, it is one of her proudest accomplishments to have built a growing team of exceptional advertising and marketing professionals that boost the BE's capacity to be an invaluable resource to its customers.

It's that commitment to businesses and business owners looking to thrive in the South Sound economy that keeps Emily passionate about the BE and the role it plays in the regional market.

Emily is a current board member of Multicare Health Foundation and chair of  MHF's new signature event, Rock the Foundation!  She is an active American Leadership Foundation senior fellow and board member, member of Rotary of Tacoma #8 and a member of the Advisory Board for the new Center for Ethical Development at Tacoma Community College.  Her community service involvement is extensive, but her favorite annual commitment is spending a week as a camp counselor at Camp Goodtimes, a summer camp for kids affected by pediatric cancer.
