What drives you? What are you most passionate about?

I love a good challenge. I love to take on challenges that other people wouldn't. I know you can't always take the easy road and, if you choose to, the rewards are usually very small and change doesn't happen.
JaimeKay Newton has worked in the hospitality industry since she was old enough to work. She started as a hostess, then moved up to serving tables.
"When I turned 21, I got a job bartending and I loved it. I felt like I was hosting a party, and I loved the challenge of creating and maintaining a fun and comfortable environment," Newton said.
She worked as a receptionist and guide at several youth hostels in New Zealand, before moving back to Tacoma to work at Magoo's Annex for six years.
"During those six years, I learned the ins and outs of the bar business, and developed good relationships with the vendors and the people of Tacoma," she said. "I had support from my employer at Magoo's and from my partner, Jason, to take this leap."
She then opened her own restaurant and already has plans to add to the location with sidewalk seating and added space inside.
"I know that, after we are done creating the whole package at the Top, we will do it again at another location," she said. "I feel that I am a pioneer. I have a vision of McKinley Hill developing into a great, livable, safe community, and I know that I am not alone."
While not working at the cafe, Newton spends much of her free time with her mother, who has recently beaten cancer.
