Tessa Kravitz Miller Social Media & Digital Manager

Do what you love & you will love what you do.

Born in Tacoma, Tessa has lived In Puyallup most of her life. She is an alumni of Rogers High School where she wrote for the school paper, the Commoner, and took up an interest in photography.

After high school she attended Pierce College and graduated from University of Washington-Tacoma. You may have spotted her over the years at Van's Amusement Center in Puyallup where she worked through college.

Tessa enjoyed working as an Employment Specialist helping people with disabilities find and maintain employment. She was later the Office Manager at the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Tacoma which gave her a taste of putting together auction events, and helping out at summer camp.

Her first experience with sales was at Expedia.com in Tacoma. Wanting to work more directly with her clients she moved to outside sales at the Regional Telephone Directory in Federal Way, which was later purchased by Yellow Book USA. She spent 5 years in the yellow page industry, her favorite part was seeing the business owners year after year and watching their businesses grow. She was awarded President's Achievement Award in 2007. Tessa is a tech junkie and is very passionate about helping businesses succeed and also enjoys creating ads, logos and marketing materials.

Her passion for business success is also put to use for herself. In 1999 Tessa purchased a four-plex that she and her dad remodeled and she owned and managed for over 10 years. In 2006 she took her passion for marketing and construction and is a co-owner of Blue Apple, a construction company that focuses on remodeling.

Tessa joined the Business Examiner's advertising sales team in June 2008. She has a diverse background in customer service, ad design, technology and marketing. In June of this year she was promoted to Social Media & Digital Manager. If she isn't tinkering with the BE website or moderating #BEchat on Twitter, you'll likely find her consulting with clients who want to have a newsletter or social media presence and don't have the time or aren't sure where to start.

Tessa has two daughters, who are very different. Hayden is four and like most kids love to play with other kids and color. Being a first born she is very independent and in many ways a mini-Tessa. Riley is two and is much more subdued. She is very sweet and is very much a fighter, having had surgery last year to remove a large cyst from her head. She bounced back like it was nothing at all, and someday will be fascinated that she has a titanium plate on her skull.

Tessa is on the Board of the Young Professionals Group which is part of the Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce, assisted with marketing efforts for Go Red for Women in 2011 and actively works with the Tacoma Events Commission to promote Freedom Fair and various other events. She is the 2011 chair of the PR committee at the Tacoma Master Builders Association and is on the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound's Marketing Committee.

In her free time Tessa spends time at home with family and friends and is always up for a gathering, which often includes a camping trip. Randomly and frequently you will find her posting on Twitter or Facebook on various topics, often being her kids, life and anything else that looks interesting, and mostly just checking to see what everyone else is up to. Sometimes she even puts her phone down for more than an hour.

Before having kids, Tessa and her fiance Bobby enjoyed an annual trip to Sturgis, a Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, and various rides throughout the area on their Harley-Davidson Road King. Looking forward to riding again, when life is a little less interrupted.
